I recently read an op-ed titled, “Many whites were lynched for fighting racism.” The op-ed left me staring at my computer screen until the text began to spiral into a distorted blur. The op-ed was filled with historical inaccuracies and a misconstrued illustration of a very grotesque point in American history. After reading the op-ed, I felt the need to submit a response and provide some ​much-needed context to the data and views presented.
